The Research Networking Event (RNE) has been a key component of BMEiCON since the conference's inception 17 years ago. Its primary aim is to foster a Biomedical Engineering (BME) network among BMEiCON participants. Through RNE, professors, researchers, lecturers, and students embark on trips to local attractions, providing an informal setting to connect, exchange contact information, share ideas, and explore potential research collaborations. Attendees can expect to engage with experts from various BME fields in a relaxed and professional atmosphere.

This year, RNE will take place at Maewang elephant sanctuary

Maewang Elephant sanctuary, located in the scenic maewang district near Chiang Mai, Thailand, is a well-known destination for elephant-related activities. Established in 1996 by the Chailert family, the park was created to provide a safe environment for elephants following Thailand's logging ban, which led to many elephants being displaced and forced into street work .

Over the years, the park has evolved to include a free elephant clinic, established in 2009, to offer medical care to elephants in the region. This clinic is staffed by full-time veterinarians and experienced mahouts and is funded through park revenues and the sale of elephant artwork .

Visitors to Maewang Elephant sanctuary can participate in various activities, such as feeding elephants, watching performances, and taking short rides. The park is situated along the Mae Taeng River, providing a picturesque setting for these experiences .
